MEMORANDUM

TO: NATIONAL CONVENTION DELEGATES AND ALTERNATES

FROM: SUE EVERHART, CHAIRMAN

DATE: AUGUST 21, 2008

SUBJECT: NATIONAL CONVENTION

With the 2008 Republican National Convention rapidly approaching, there are a number of things I wanted to make you aware of.  I’ll do my best here to share the information as best we currently have it, with the caveat that some of this may change between now and the Convention.

If at any time during the Convention you need assistance in any way, please feel free to call the GAGOP staff hotline at (404) 556-7596 or 2008@gagop.org.  You will be able to reach us 24/7 at this number and email address.

Credentials

You will receive your credentials at the Information Session and Brunch on Sunday, August 31st being held at our hotel at 11 AM.  If you are arriving after the brunch please review the instructions for credentials pick up you’ll receive upon check-in.  Please note that you will be required to sign for your credentials when you receive them and that you must pick them up in person.  Unfortunately, we cannot honor any requests to have somebody receive them in your place.

Your guest’s credentials will be included in your delegate or alternate package.  If you are a guest at large, please pick up your credentials at the brunch.

Your credentials will serve as your ticket to the convention sessions and the GOPExpress bus system. Please keep close track of your credentials as there are no replacement options. Note: Your Convention credentials will come in a package of four, one for each session. It is advised to only wear the credential for that day and only wear them to the convention sessions. This is for credential security. There have been past incidents of theft.

Your Georgia delegation nametag will serve as your ticket to Georgia delegation events and other parties.

If you are not able to attend the breakfast, please contact us via the staff hotline upon arrival so we can arrange a time for you to receive your credentials.

Schedule

I have attached a draft schedule for the Georgia Delegation to this email.  Please note that it is subject to change.  A final schedule will be distributed with your credentials in Minneapolis.  I’ve also attached a number of invitations to different events.  Some of these require an RSVP, so I would encourage you to review them.

Transportation

Transportation will be provided from the hotel to all official Georgia Delegation events and back including convention sessions.  You will need to provide your own transportation to any optional or personal events you might attend.  You are strongly encouraged to travel to and from the convention sessions with the rest of the Georgia Delegation on the GOPExpress bus system. If you are handicapped or unable to walk the approximately two blocks from the drop-off point to the convention site, please let us know and we will make arrangements for you.

Dress

Recommended attire for the convention sessions is business.  The other events are business casual.

Hotel

If you need to make changes to your hotel reservation, please contact the hotel directly at (952) 542-8600.

If you have reserved a hotel room through the GAGOP and you have not received your confirmation number please contact Anna at (404) 257-5559 x 274.

Delegation Group Photo

Immediately after the Wednesday morning Delegation Breakfast we will have Bill Adler take our official Georgia Delegation Photo. This tradition dates from at least 1992, and we encourage everyone to take part. Please see the Delegation Photo Form found in your Delegate Bag for more information. He will accept payment via cash, check, or credit card. The total charge will be $24.95 for each photo purchased (this price includes packaging and shipping).
